NOTE: Though much material on this page is potentially inflammatory, please respect that many views are being fully presented here.  There is no latent Jewish hatred hidden for the sake of political advantage.  Most Preterists do not share the opinion of Christian Zionists, who believe that Jews will be slaughtered in a future apocalypse.  The common argument which accuses preterists of teaching “replacement theology” is invalid because the covenant PRE-DATES the Jewish nation.  The Old Covenant was the replacement of the everlasting covenant, as shown in the law which was given at Horeb, alongside that of Moab:  

Philip Mauro: “But Moses interceded for the people; and God spared the people, and commanded Moses to lead them to the land He had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and to Jacob 33:1; and He made with them another covenant (34:10); which covenant, in respect to what was promised thereby, was very inferior to the covenant they had broken; for this substituted covenant (which was not a blood covenant) was restricted to the terms and conditions upon which God would permit them to continue in possession of the land of Canaan.   Those terms and conditions are set forth in detail in the book of Deuteronomy; where, after the recital of them, Moses writes “These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which He made with them in Horeb” (Deut. 29:1).” (The Hope of Israel, ch. 5)

There has been much hatred spread towards Jewish people with AD70 as the backdrop.  A certain sneering at the Jewish people – primarily justified using the rejection of their King – rears its ugly head at times.  The passion plays in Alcazar’s Spain were particularly grotesque in their smearing of all things Jewish.  However, there is no such agenda here, or generally among normal preterists (aside from Christian Identity ones perhaps).   Note that regarding Matthew 24:34 and its use of the word “generation“:  The Christian Zionist attempt to identify the generation in question as the entire race of the Jews is here accused to be inherently Anti-Semitic, whereas it is said that to identify it as the particular generation then living is not.

David Chilton The Restoration of Israel – “In His sovereign grace God has chosen to save some out of Israel, even as He has condemned Israel as a whole, so that “Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were hardened” in their unbelief, like the ungodly Pharaoh of Egypt (v. 7; cf. 9:14-18). For the majority of ethnic Israel, “God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day” (v. 8; cf Acts 28:25-28). HERMENEUTICS: PROPHECY AND FULFILLMENT

“If all of Scripture finds its fulfillment and significance in Christ, then perhaps the exegete should be able to find Christological significance in each text. This seems to be the practice of many of the interpreters surveyed. In this case, although the historical context and the original setting of the text are not unimportant, there is the desire to find the fuller or deeper meaning in the text in light of the coming of Christ.

Third, beginning with the Fathers, biblical exegesis is done within the community of faith and with a pastoral concern. If the only meaning of the text is found in its historical context, there is the perception of a lack of relevance for the contemporary church. This seems to have led many to look for Christological significance in order to have something to preach to their audience.

The examination of Jonathan Edwards’s interpretation of Scripture will show that his method is consistent with the mainstream of biblical exegesis. Edwards has a particular focus on the Christological significance of the biblical text, a connection which he usually draws through the use of typology. Further, Edwards’s pastoral concern seems to lead to a selective use of Scripture with particular Christological significance for his sermons. Many of the details of the visions in Revelation 4:1—8:1 receive little treatment in his sermons. One must realize that Jesus then was a man, and revealed whatever that was revealed to Him. Who is the god of the natural world?  The old, natural, temporary and merely typifying Israel was judged in the spring of AD 30 when the new, spiritual and eternal Israel appeared in the moment of Christ’s resurrection. The old, Christ-rejecting Israel deserved to be destroyed at that point for rejecting its Savior and King but God granted the nation 40 years of grace prior to its destruction in AD 70. During those 40 years, Satan still ruled over the natural (unsaved) Israelites and their persecution of the spiritual Israelites (the church) continued until the destruction of natural Israel. In the same manner, the old, natural, temporary and merely typifing world was judged in autumn of AD 96 when the new, spiritual and eternal world of Rev. 21 and 22 appeared in the moment of the resurrection of they that were Christ’s at his parousia. The old, Christ-rejecting world deserved to be destroyed at that point for rejecting its Savior and King but God granted the world a symbolically described “thousand years” of grace prior to its future destruction, as described in Rev. 20:7-15. During this present period of a “thousand years” Satan still rules over the natural (unsaved) people of the world and their persecution of the people of the spiritual and eternal world will continue until the future destruction of the natural world (not the planet). Preterists (and futurists) just can’t see that there were two Israels (one eternal and one doomed) during the 40 years AD 30-70 and two worlds (one eternal and one doomed) during this present “thousand years.”

“The throne of God and of the Lamb” (Rev. 22:1) is not in heaven “up there” somewhere. It is here, on the earth, the eternal home of the saved remnant of mankind, ever since the prayer of Mt. 6:10 – “thy kingdom come on earth as in heaven” – was answered at Christ’s parousia. Mankind’s heaven was on earth in the beginning (Gen. 1) and in the day and hour of Christ’s parousia the world was re-born and that heaven on earth was spiritually restored – with one matter yet to be attended to. When a person is born again and becomes a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) there are, temporarily, two creatures – but time eventually will destroy the old, merely natural creature. Likewise, during this present “thousand years,” there are, temporarily, two worlds on the earth but in time, to complete the transition to the situation existing in Gen. 1, that joint occupancy of the planet will end with the destruction of the old, natural world, the Christ-rejecting, natural offspring of Adam and their natural institutions (Rev. 20:7-15).

There is a purple ribbon project that was started in the heavens that is becoming highly commendable. Light poles, trees and churches are being decorated with these purple ribbons. Kali Ma is the ever becoming, ever destroying force of Life. She is both unimaginable horror and abundant bliss. She is seen in the deadly dance of antelope and lion. Labyris is a Sacred Goddess Symbol. Labyrs, Sagarus, Halbryce, and Labyris are all names for this symbol of Goddess power and authority. There is a Sacred Crystal dedicated to the Goddess of the Brazilian Sea. The Moon of Yemaya is named “a lua de Ijemanja” in honor the Goddess and the Brazilian land. The Knot of Inanna is sacred to Goddess Artemis. The Semites honored Inanna as Ishtar. Astarte is also known as Astarat and Astoreth. She is an incarnation of Ishtar and Inanna. Fulfillment:
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Ok, I too agree that the word “almah” in Is. 7:14 means a real, untouched virgin by our standards today as you obviously do. Now, the problem is that the word “virgin” means “virgin” both during the first fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy directly to king Ahaz and during Mary’s birth of Jesus. You can’t have it meaning “young maiden” in Ahaz’s day and “virgin” in Mary’s day…so…who was the male child that was born in Isaiah’s day without a father? See what I’m saying? Since the word is accepted to mean “virgin,” then there MUST be TWO virgin births of male children without a father and not just one, Jesus.
