Johann August Wilhelm Neander
GERMAN IDEALIST
(1789-1850)
“All has been transformed from the carnal to the spiritual”
History of the Planting and Training of the Christian Church by the Apostles
Not to be confused with David Mendel Neander
(On Matthew 21:43)
“the theocratic relation is broken, and the kingdom is transferred to other nations that shall bring forth fruits corresponding to it.” (Life of Christ, sec. 256)
(On the Parable of the Pounds, Luke 19:11-27)
“In this parable, in view of the circumstances under which it was uttered, and of the approaching catastrophe, special intimations are given of Christ’s departure from the earth, of His ascension, and return to judge the rebellious theocratic nation, and consummate His dominion. It describes a great man, who travels to the distant court of the mighty emperor, to receive from him authority over his countrymen, and to return with royal power. So Christ was not immediately recognised in His kingly office, but first had to depart from the earth and leave His agents to advance His kingdom, to ascend into heaven and be appointed theocratic King, and return again to exercise His contested power.” (Life of Christ, p. 239)
(On Luke 13:6-9)
“As the fruitless tree, failing to realize the aim of its being, was destroyed, so the theocratic nation, for the same reason, was to be overtaken, after long forbearance, by the judgments of God, and shut out from His kingdom.” (Life of Christ, p. 245)
(On Chiliasm/Millenarianism)
” Among the Jews the representation was growing that the messiah would reign 1000 years upon the earth. Such products of Jewish imagination passed over into Christianity. ” (History of Christian Dogmas, Vol. I, pg. 248 )
“Amazingly meager indeed, are the direct and explicit statements which can by any show of reasonableness be claimed as evidence for Chiliasm. To imagine that we can distil from these rare fragments the orthodox faith of the early church is a huge assumption, and even more preposterous is it to claim that these barren, feeble utterances represent Chiliasm in its modern premillennial manifestation. ” (Ibid. pgs. 52 – 53)
“And thus it is not impossible, that all which presented itself to them as a perception of the outward senses, might be, in fact, only a perception of the internal mental state.” (History of the Planting and Training of the Christian Church by the Apostles, p. 7)
“Paul’s appeals to the nomos are only to the outward Mosaic law as an expression of the eternal law of God. ” (History of the Planting and Training of the Christian Church by the Apostles, p. 463)
“through an anointing, – the symbol of the power imparted to them by God through his Spirit for the fulfillment of their calling. By the outward and visible was signified that which, in its fulness and completion, was to be wrought inwardly upon the spirit. Now that which was expressed outwardly under the old dispensation, and by a single act, is in the New Testament converted wholly into the inward and spiritual, and working from within embraces the entire life.” (The First Epistle of John: Practically Explained, p. 126)

Preterism and dispensationalism are both based on the same false and demeaning Zionist belief — the failure to recognize that God was finished FOREVER with the old, natural, temporary, merely typifying Israel and ALL of its merely typifying institutions (and especially the law of Moses, that terrible yoke of bondage) in the moment of the resurrection of Christ, the true, spiritual, eternal, fulfillment Israel, in the spring of AD 30. Dispensationalists eagerly spread the lie that the law of Moses will be enforced on all of the people of the world during a future period of 1,000 years (millennium) while preterists eagerly spread the lie that the law of Moses continued to be enforced on the people of Israel during “a 40-year millennium” (AD 30-70). Both of those false beliefs result from a lack of spiritual discernment.

What do I think? According to this very able Bible scholar, “every attempt to discover the remnants of the ten tribes anywhere must be altogether futile.” We must also add that those not only are a waste of time, but they are contrary to the Word of God, which destroyed any distinction between “Jew and Gentile.” The distinction today is between “Saved and unsaved.” “To be a Jew in this sense was to be one of the covenant people of God, a member of the true Church”: Pastor Need was this your statement? I hope not. Even though the statements for the most part are true. But to say its futile and a waste of time to attempt to look for The House of Israel of the Bible shows ignorance of the subject. Not only from History, but also the Word of God. Please understand I do not mean my word ignorance in a mean or bad way. I simply mean it as Lack of knowledge from God and His WORD. I have read your Doctrinal Statement for The Biblical Examiner of 1987 And I agree with it most heartily. I found out one thing in your statements we sure agree on. We may have gotten their different ways. You don’t believe in dispensationism nor do I. You also seem to believe what Paul said in Romans that some of the branches (Judah) were broken off and the Church was grafted in. So therefore we have and will continue to have the promises made to Israel (The other House) The 10 tribes. You know God set Israel into two houses in 931 BC and by 723 BC had divorced the House of Israel. He also said in Hosea, He was going to cause them to forget who they were. Pastor Need I know you know these things, but bare with me for any others that might read this and need some of these points brought out. As Paul said some were broken off and the gentile Church was added on. Does this make it a gentile root? No it is the same root! You see Pastor, God never did stop working through His people, The apple of His eye – Israel (The other House) Yes Judah was broken off and they were blind to who Christ was and Israel (the other House) were and for the most part still are blind to who they are. However this did not stop God from His plan of using them to be a light of salvation to the gentiles. I want to bring out some scriptures here. Hosea 1:9 Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God. 10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God. I quote verse 9 to show God divorced Israel (The other House) and verse 10 to show who they became. SONS OF THE LIVING GOD I think you will say Sonnie you are right on this point the only way a person can have this said of them is to be in Christ Jesus and joint hairs with Christ. Now let me settle that point on us being called Christians. Isaiah 62:1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Christians – Sons of the Living God If Hosea 1:10 was the only Bible verse I had. I would have to look for those of the sand of the sea some where on this earth other than in Judah (Jews) They have never been a light of salvation. I some time think we try to size God down to fit into our little minds. Let me bring out a couple of more scriptures in hopes of shedding a little more light. Joshua 1: 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. If I read this without applying my little mind, it seems to say, wherever they went they would have that land. If at some time they went west far enough they would pass square dab through the center of Dallas Texas. Don’t think to small now and we might just be able to see those Israelites Out of the middle east. Isaiah 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Deuteronomy 33:17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh. Isaiah 66:19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. Jeremiah 31:10 Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. Yes, Those isles afar off are England, Ireland and Scotland. The birth of the gospel was the Middle East, However the cradle of the gospel was England. The first country to call itself a Christian Nation in 157 AD. Lud or Lud gate or London was founded in 1104 BC by Israelites. The same line that founded Troy, because London was first called New Troy. You see the Church is Israel and they are still that light of salvation and anyone that becomes a Christian is considered Israel and has that responsibility to be a light of salvation. Why is it so hard for some to see this? God divorced Israel (The other House) so He could take them as His bride in Christ. I hope this will help the reader to a fuller understanding of our Fathers WORD. God Bless all. Gods Battle Ax
